Avengers: Infinity War - 7 Consequences On Earth Thanos Did Not Consider
3. The Environment
It seems most of the news involving the health and sustainability of this blue marble of ours is depressing and dreadful. Well, this will be no different.
In an age in which we have to dramatically reduce emissions, there beign fewer people seems like it would be good for the environment in a dystopian way. However, we are already on this path and reducing the number of people would maybe buy us a few extra years. Unless the survivors made an effort to decrease pollutants, Thanos' snap would only serve as a band-aid.
What Thanos may have also missed is with the exception of humans, the Earth may have too few living things. The planet is currently experiencing what is called the Holocene Extinction, the name given to the sixth mass extinction, which is largely due to human activity. Thanos has made this infinitely worse. Kevin Feige confirmed animals were also affected by the events of Infinity War, so the Mad Titan pushed thousands of species to the brink.
We are in need of a more elegant solution, which a fully stocked Infinity Gauntlet could reasonably accomplish. Thanos could have also just, you know, repaired all the environmental damage with the snap instead, but we're doing too much nitpicking as it is here.
