5. Why Did Lex Kill Mercy Graves?

The Question: It was a nice nod to the comics to see Lex Luthor's personal assistant Mercy Graves show up in the movie, and considering that she disappears out of the film after the senate explosion, we're left to assume that Lex essentially orchestrated the murder of his own genius assistant. Considering how intelligent and resourceful she is, why would Lex so wantonly allow a close ally to perish so needlessly? The Likely Answer: The only thing that really makes sense is that Lex wanted to ensure he couldn't be accused of staging the explosion, so he let his trusty assistant bite the bullet for him. That would be fine except the wheelchair containing the explosive was a gift from LexCorp, so he's still potentially implicated anyway. There's always a very small chance Graves will return, but the more probable reality is that she's dead and the script just didn't think the beat through clearly.
