Batman Vs Superman Movie: 10 Beautiful Details It Must Have
3. The Flashbacks
Perhaps the selling point of Man Of Steel, the film is a fabulous exploration of Clark Kent's childhood; from the interaction of him and his parents, to his wilderness years, it's almost a biopic of a character we know and love. And the non-linear flashbacks certainly flesh out the character. The scene in the bar when Clark doesn't rise to the drunk starting a fight with him seems like a missed opportunity on first viewing, as it's a chance to see what Superman is really capable of; after we see the scene however with Jonathan telling him that whoever he grows up to be will change the world, it really makes perfect sense, and makes the scene more moving. Man Of Steel's dips into Clark's past made for exquisite storytelling, and they challenged the attention-span of the film's audience. Although the next film is a move on from Clark's beginnings, hopefully the occasional non-linear structure can be reused. After all, it relates back to Clark's amazing viewpoint, and enhanced way of seeing things: why not present the past like that?
