Batman vs Superman Movie - 4 Reasons The Delay Is A Good Thing

1. More Time To Work On The Script

Batmanvssuperman This goes hand in hand with crafting their DC universe. In order to make the best film possible they'll need the best script possible. Though we've heard word that this movie has been in the works longer than fans may suspect, it's still felt a bit rushed. They announced the film in July and were hoping to start production next month, which frankly isn't really enough time to tackle a project this big. That's why they hired Academy Award winning screenwriter Chris Terrio (Argo) to polish David Goyer's script. Whether or not he's simply tightening up the story or doing a complete overhaul doesn't really matter. Having him on the film adds a great deal of clout to the production and shows that WB is taking the movie very seriously. How easy would it have been for them to go ahead and start filming now, just to charge headfirst towards that 2015 release date? Crafting these sequels takes time. Look at the difference between what Marvel did with Iron Man 2 and what WB did with The Dark Knight. IM2 came out just two years after the first film, and ended up being one of Marvel's weakest movies. The Dark Knight, on the other hand, arrived three years after Batman Begins and remains one of the best comic book films ever made. Telling good, engaging, lasting stories take time, and WB has shown with this delay that they're absolutely willing to take the time to get this one right. It's much more important to get a movie right than to get it right now, and as someone who's been waiting his whole life to see Batman and Superman on screen together, I can absolutely wait another ten months to get the best film possible. It's a marathon, not a sprint. So, there we have it. 4 reasons why this BVS delay is the best possible thing for the movie. Does it suck having to wait nearly a whole extra year? Absolutely. But it'll be worth it. What do you think about this delay? Do you think it means trouble for the film, or do you agree that this is the best move for WB?
