Best/Worst Case For 15 Summer Movies (With Predictions)

3. Once Upon A Time In Hollywood

The Lion King Simba
Sony Pictures

Release Date: July 26th

The film slate just feels more complete when there is a Tarantino film on it. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood features a star-studded cast headlined by Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt. This will be another one of Tarantino's history films and will depict the Hollywood's Golden Age and the Manson Murders.

Best Case: All you have to do is look at the names attached to this movie and you will get excited. Quentin Tarantino’s films all fall between pretty good and timeless classics on the spectrum, so it doesn't seem like he will become lazy or sloppy in his approach at this point. This twist on the past could be the year's best movie and get someone here another Academy Award.

Worst Case: An artist that experiments as much as Tarantino will cross some lines. It isn't the disastrous event to the scale of World War 2 or slavery, as Tarantino depicted in past movies in this series, but the Manson Murders are more recent and more specific to individuals, particularly Sharon Tate. Although unlikely, it could make the movie distasteful for critics and viewers.

Prediction: The bar is high here and this movie should clear it. Once Upon a Time In Hollywood will have impressive performances from an all-star group wanting to keep up with one another and Tarantino will get his usual praise from critics.
