Best/Worst Case For 15 Summer Movies (With Predictions)

Dark Phoenix may be the last film made by Fox featuring the X-Men, but it is not the last film featuring Marvel characters. After multiple delays, The New Mutants will finally make its way to the big screen and will be the final Marvel film produced by Fox. The superhero horror film will follow five young mutants trying to escape a secret facility and their own personal Hells.

Best Case: Fox has been at its best with Marvel properties when they are at their most experimental. Logan and Deadpool were both, in some fashion, risks for the studio and it led to some subversive, quality work. The New Mutants, a movie with its own list of obstacles and risks, could show us something we haven't seen in a superhero flick before.

Worst Case: The New Mutants faced some serious delays that may have killed enthusiasm from prospective viewers. There were also lengthy reshoots, which doesn't exactly show confidence. Similar problems were seen with this year's Alita: Battle Angel, another Fox film, which may be the year's biggest flop. With similar circumstances, The New Mutants suffer a similar fate.

Prediction: Sadly, there hasn't been much of anything that inspires faith in this movie. The reshoots and delays will do more harm than good and the X-Men franchise will reach a near low point with The New Mutants.
