Now, we'll admittedly file this one purely under the "morbid curiosity" brand of anticipation.
Slay Day is an experimental interactive slasher film which is set to be theatrically released and will grant viewers the opportunity to steer the story's outcome by voting on more than 50 decision points using their smartphones.
Yes, it's hard enough convincing cinemagoers to keep their phones in their pockets as it is, and so to many an experience that actively encourages the practise sounds positively nightmarish.
It is an interesting experiment, though, and at least one where everyone who gives it a try should fully know what fresh mayhem they're getting themselves into.
As for the plot? It takes place on a Friday the 13th in 1987 as six teens prepare for their school dance, only for a malevolent force to begin picking them off.
And if you'd rather forego the big-screen experience, Slay Day is also set to be released as a video game at some point.
