Birds Of Prey: 10 References And Easter Eggs You May Have Missed
9. Zsasz's Scars
While those versed in Batman's lore were definitely delighted to see the ever-disturbing Victor Zsasz appear as a fairly major character in the Birds of Prey film, those who are less aware of the character could have easily been left confused.
As, while it's made very clear the dude is a psychopath and a serial killer, the most important thing about Zsasz is only briefly referenced; that of his scars.
When Zsasz shows his scars and explains that he has made a cut for every "pretty bird he has set free", he's dodging around the reality of the scars, as every cut he makes is for someone he's killed - with his comic form being obsessed with killing enough people to mark every part of his body. Also, crucially, Zsasz is generally not limited to "pretty birds" but rather anyone with a pulse within stabbing range.
It's enough to make you hope that a sequel will feature the zany serial killer once more, just to see how many people he has killed in the time between films.
