2. The Harley Quinn Roller Derby
Of all the parts of the Birds of Prey film that you expect to find referencing the comics, the fact that Harley Quinn was briefly in a very aggressive roller derby team is perhaps the most surprising of them.
And yet it's a perfect homage to the 2014 Harley Quinn series, which would feature the anti-hero slash anti-villain pulling up her skates to learn the epic highs and lows of rollerskating competitively.
It's so perfectly ridiculous that it fits the tone of the film in all the best ways, while using a part of Harley's life that is pretty obscure. In short, the team behind the film clearly did their reading on good ol' Quinn, and it's very much appreciated.
