Black Adam: 10 Things You Need To Know About Dwayne Johnson's DC Movie
8. The JSA's New Recruits
During Black Adam, Hawkman and Dr. Fate will have aligned themselves with new Justice Society recruits Atom Smasher and Cyclone. They're not the most well-known DC Comics heroes, but likely younger additions to a team whose best days have been and gone. Noah Centineo is playing Atom Smasher, and was on hand at DC FanDome to drop some hints about what fans can expect.
"I feel like he really has something to prove, especially with his lineage," he said of Albert Rothstein, the god-son of the original Atom.
"What I love is that he goes through this transformation throughout the film, he’s not expecting to be a superhero so it’s this journey that he goes on and seeing what that means." Atom Smasher has the ability to alter his body's size and density so should be more than a match for Black Adam, something Johnson hinted at when he described the hero as "big and badass."
As for Cyclone, Warner Bros. is reportedly looking for an "Alexandra Shipp-type" to play the granddaughter of Ma Hunkel, who was the first Red Tornado and an unofficial member of the Justice Society. After being kidnapped and experimented on as a child, Cyclone gained the abilities to manipulate wind and sound waves, so both these heroes bring a lot to the table.
