Bond 25: 5 Things From Previous Daniel Craig Films It Must Continue (And 4 It Must Avoid)
8. CONTINUE: Bond As Flawed Character
When is James Bond not a smooth-talking death-defying ladies man? When he's a complex, disgruntled and misguided soldier who's saddled in the game a little too long. 007 has not had an easy ride of things since Casino Royale, having lost more than one woman, and having gone through several down-and-out periods. And with his battle with Earth's criminal elite running for nearly a decade and a half, he's not getting any younger either.
For Bond 25 to have any weight to its story, the end of Bond's wits have to be addressed. His reputable toughness mixed with his own internal strife, is a profile ready to be exposed and exploited by any savvy criminal mastermind.
Spectre's presence in the world is set to come to a boiling point and this represents a similar bow out for Craig's Bond. His human character traits have to be prioritized in favour of glib one-liners and narrative cop-outs for fans to have any emotional investment in this all-important final chapter. It's owed to the work done in the previous films.
