Borat Subsequent Moviefilm Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs
6. Sacha Baron Cohen Kills It Again As Borat
As much as comedians returning to beloved characters years later can so often produce mixed results, Sacha Baron Cohen is note-perfect once again as the title character, slipping back into the oversized grey suit as though he never left.
The film's central conceit - that Borat has to wear disguises to avoid being recognised in public - gives Cohen the perfect opportunity to exploit his penchant for wacky character comedy, one which he dives into as enthusiastically as you'd expect.
Coming away from Borat 2, there's no feeling of desperation in Cohen's performance, that he's straining to make Borat relevant again.
Rather, this feels exactly like a movie he knew he had to make, to take advantage of a unique moment in world history - and that he certainly does.
