Brendan Fraser's 10 Greatest Performances
4. Doom Patrol
Another of Fraser's more recent roles is that of Robotman on DC's Doom Patrol television series. In the show, Fraser physically plays the role of Clifford Steele, a Nascar driver, in flashbacks while only doing the voice of Robotman himself, the character who Steele becomes after a terrible accident forces him to have a brain transplant into a robot body.
The most interesting thing about Fraser's performance here is to see how he furthers his acting range in new ways once again. As already mentioned, Trust actively saw him moving away from the physical and using his eyes in infinitely interesting ways and Doom Patrol literally strips him of his physicality altogether.
All he has to convey the performance here is his voice and once again Fraser rises to the challenge, delivering the best performance in a series full of stacked performances and expanding his own acting vocabulary in new and interesting ways.
In other words, Fraser may have been away from the limelight for a few years but he has lost nothing in that time. Like a fine wine, he's arguably only getting better and more capable of nuanced expression as he gets older.
