6. Buddy Cop Genre

One of the masters of the buddy cop genre is Walter Hill. He made buddy cop gold with 48 Hrs. Then there was Another 48 Hrs. I'm not going to say anything more about that one. I just figured its existence needed to be acknowledged. Some might counter that Bullet to the Head is not, in fact, a buddy cop film. One's a cop and one's a killer. But, that just makes it even better. Stallone and Kang will be able to play off each other easier and it's always great to see Stallone play against type as he is usually the weary hero or the ambitious everyman (Rocky). Plus, let's not forget Eddie Murphy was a crook in 48 Hrs. and Mel Gibson was a suicidal maniac in Lethal Weapon. A little bit of crazy and contrast can go a long way. The buddy genre shined in the 80s and 90s and gave us pure classics like Tango and Cash and Lethal Weapon. If you don't think those are classics then please stop reading. Stallone and Sung Kang appear to have good chemistry and, as I said, seem like they will be playing off of each-other well as they ride around New Orleans cracking jokes about Stallone's age and Kang's ethnicity. Ahhh. The politically incorrect 80s...how I wish you were still here...Well, thanks to movies like Bullet to the Head, I can breathe a sigh of relief and bathe in nostalgia and pretend those days are still here or, at least, coming back. Or, in my case, pretend like I actually lived in those days! That if definitely a reason to be excited.
