5. Explosions
Oh how I long for the trailers of yesteryear that filled themselves with endless explosions. Well, the Bullet to the Head trailer did not not disappoint. It provides three big old explosions and we know, if this film is anything like Stallone's earlier work, we are going to get plenty more. Stallone pressing buttons to make things explode, bad guys making things explode and our heroes escaping at the last minute. It all sounds very Lethal Weaponish- and that's quite alright with me. Explosions are the pinnacle of action movies. It's something we don't get to see in real life and the best action movies help us divulge in the anarchy of this visual fire and pure hectic energy. The best action movies always have great explosions. Take your pick from any Die Hard or Terminator film. Hell, just take a glance at a Rambo film or any film starring Stallone in his heyday. Of course, people like Michael Bay have over divulged in their careers and turned the mystical action movie explosion into meaningless drivel with films like Transformers as he numbs movie goers just looking for a good time and something cool to talk about. Here's to men like Stallone and Walter Hill bringing it back and un- numbing poor old movie lovers.
