Bumblebee: 8 Reasons Why It Will Be The Best Transformers Film Ever

4. The Designs

Bay's Transformers films always had a strange aversion to the way the Transformers looked in the source material.

Rather than sticking with the clean designs and simple transformations of the characters in the comics, animated shows, and toy lines, Bay decided to turn all of the Transformers into robots made up of pieces of jagged, indistinguishable metal. Whereas the original designs had literally been so simple and easy that a child could do them, the designs in Bay's films would have caused great pain to any child attempting to transform their toy.

But Bumblebee's trailers have made a point of showing off the fact that the film is bringing back the original Generation 1 designs in a big way. This ranges from Bumblebee to Optimus to even the brief snippet of ships that can be seen on Cybertron. The designs adhere strictly to the source material and for the first time ever, the transformations are actual transformations.

When Bumblebee transforms inside of Charlie's garage, you can actually see where each part of the car goes when he transforms. It mercifully ditches Bay's whirlwind-of-metal approach in favor of something much more legible and complete. Looking at the Transformers in Bumblebee doesn't actively incite migraines, as looking at the mangled messes of Transformers in the previous films often did.
