20 Upcoming Film & TV Shows That Just Got Cancelled
11. The Abandons
The Abandons is a new Netflix-produced Western drama series from The Shield and Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter, led by the innately compelling Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson.
But in late January, just six weeks after The Abandons was released, Netflix confirmed that it wouldn't be returning for season two.
Because Netflix publishes their own weekly top 10, we can see that the show spent just two weeks in the charts before sliding off, suggesting it just didn't have the staying power necessary for a show of this budget level to continue.
Beyond this, it likely didn't help that the show had serious behind-the-scenes creative issues, with showrunner Sutter quitting a few weeks before shooting wrapped, reportedly due to a fallout with Netflix after they viewed rough cuts of the first few episodes.
And of course, there's the fact that The Abandons was poorly received by critics on top of an utterly indifferent audience response, only further sealing its fate.
