Cannes 2019: 10 Most Buzzed About Movies

3. Pain And Glory

The Lighthouse
Sony Pictures Classics

Director Pedro Almodóvar is a heavyweight of Spanish filmmaking, and his newest feature Pain and Glory went over an expected treat with critics.

Starring longtime collaborators and heavyweights in their own right Penelope Cruz and Antonio Banderas, the drama follows the life of a filmmaker with dimming career prospects, a role that Banderas won the award for Best Actor at the festival for.

His ever-presence as a Palme d'Or competitor and Academy Award wins for his films over the years, Almodóvar's features are always highlights of the Cannes film festival. Expect to see this film perhaps be chosen as Spain's entry for this year's Best International Feature Film (previously known as the Best Foreign Language Film) at the Oscars in 2020.

Chances are I’m watching a movie or replaying Mass Effect rather than doing anything productive.
