Captain America: Civil War - 10 Characters Who Could Be Last Minute Additions
2. The Defenders
The nature of insider scooping being what it is, if the once and future Defenders were in Civil War proper, you have to assume we would have heard about it by now. It's because of that that I'm not predicting a massive part to be played by Daredevil et al in the War (a huge missed opportunity, but oh well), but simply a small cameo. Remember in X-Men: Days Of Future Past, when Magneto is broadcasting his planned execution of Nixon to the whole country? There are the reaction shots of all the mutants, including Ink, Toad (who's inexplicably been hired as a chef, but that is a question for another time) and Quicksilver, showing the young minds that Magneto's words are reaching. There could easily be a similar scene in Captain America: Civil War - not that Kevin Feige wants to rip off the X-Men films - but it's a simple thing to have each of our Netflix characters reacting to the superhero civil war on TV. It lays some much-needed groundwork for when the characters inevitably crossover with the films. To audiences watching the film unfamiliar with the Netflix output, these people will just be random people watching the news unfold and how far-reaching its effects are. To all the fans in the know, it'll be a crowd-pleasing tip of the hat. And to those who recognise these random actors from other films and TV shows they've been in, well they'll be intrigued enough to find out more about them and translate into new customers for Netflix. Win-win-win.
