The Great Moment: Cap’s side is stunned to see Thor, who was believed dead at the time, appear in battle. It turns out this Thor was actually a disturbed clone dubbed Ragnarok, who proceeded to immediately kill the hero Goliath in battle.

Why We Won’t Get To See It: At this point, the idea of an evil clone is still a stretch, even for the MCU. Without any sort of buildup to that type of development, it would be a pretty drastic step to just have Tony cook up a Thor clone in his lab.

If a rogue clone wasn’t enough of a reach, there’s the simple fact that Chris Hemsworth is not in this film. With an already overcrowded cast, Thor’s presence is best reserved until his next solo outing. Likewise, Goliath simply doesn’t exist in the MCU and there isn’t an obvious hero to take his role as cannon fodder.

Nevertheless, some semblance of this moment ought to be recreated. While there had been minor skirmishes to this point, Ragnarok’s act was the first real blow dealt to one side by the other. It escalated the conflict immediately, and caused Tony to question his own methods and Cap to question the stakes.
