Captain America: Civil War - 8 Characters Who Will Be Totally Different

6. Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross

This entry is as much of a literal transformation €“ at least, that€™s the rumour €“ as we€™re going to get in Civil War. When Thaddeus Ross was announced to be in the lineup of the upcoming movie, everyone scratched their heads; what purpose could the MCU have for dredging up a forgettable villain from one of its more unsuccessful solo franchises? Most people, of course, immediately theorized the obvious: that, especially in the wake of the apparent absence of Bruce Banner in Civil War, we€™re finally going to see a different shade of Hulk on the silver screen. At the very least, William Hurt has teased that the character of Ross is going to be significantly different in this film compared to what we€™ve seen of him, but all that might mean is a Ross with a personality transformed out of his failure to catch the Hulk. Some interesting theories have popped up from fans struggling to fit Red Hulk into the narrative of a film that is already oversaturated with conflict. With Tony Stark€™s penchant for creating his own foes, many predict that he will be responsible for the creation of Red Hulk €“ perhaps as a last-ditch effort to win a war that he is losing, or simply to get the upper hand. Some even venture that he might replace the Thor clone plot point as a catalyst in the war. Obviously this is all speculation at this point, but it doesn€™t seem completely implausible to hope to see at least a flash of an angrier Hulk in the next MCU instalment.
