Captain America: Civil War - 9 Theories On How The War Starts

7. Vision Plays God

Surely someone is going to wonder why the God-like robot created by the most evil other robot in the history of the known world is suddenly being used by a supposedly government ratified superhero group. He's a Dr Manhattan waiting to happen. How It Would Work Regardless of how worthy Mjolnir has deemed him, Vision was "born yesterday" and has a moral compass based very closely on his other creator, Tony Stark's. And he's the one who thought building a weapon of mass destruction with consciousness was the best defence for the Earth, so there's precedent for Vision to misjudge a perilous situation horribly and cause more harm than good. The Evidence Paul Bettany said recently that the appeal of the character was that he was unexpected and dangerous, which sounds incredibly ominous. Plus, having another of Tony Stark's "inventions" backfire would fit with the most expected trajectory of his arc (and might explain why he's so willing to battle with Cap) when they're still good friends at the end of Ultron. The Likelihood Sadly for fans of Watchmen, it's more likely that Bettany is simply throwing in a red herring, or at the very most teasing his importance to a later stage in the Infinity War storyline. After all, it would be terrible for the bigger picture if anyone forgot the fact that he's got a gigantic MacGuffin in the middle of his forehead...
