"How do we know the good guys from the bad guys?" That quote alone is enough to prove that Cap won't just be going up against TWS, but will, in some capacity, go up against SHIELD as well. My guess is on Robert Redford's character being behind it all, thanks to his potentially dark quote in this trailer and the teaser: "To build a better world, sometimes means tearing the old one down." This film is being touted as and homage to the political thrillers of the 1970's, and placing Rogers in the present day gives us an interesting angle at contemporary politics. When he was fighting in World War II there was a clear threat: The Nazis (or, in that particular case, the Nazi-based organization known as HYDRA). Today, there aren't as many clear and defined threats. The lines between good and evil are blurred, and that's something that Marvel has the chance at exploring here. How does a man like Captain America function in today's society? Who can he trust, and who are the real enemies? We got hints of that in October's teaser trailer, but now those worries are front and center. If Marvel Studios can make a film half as good as this trailer, they're in good shape. The Winter Soldier looks like their most grounded, focused, and intense films to date and hopefully they deliver a final product that lives up to the hype that will only keep building until April.
