Christopher Nolan: Everything We Know About His 2020 Film 'Tenet'

1. It's An Action Spy Thriller

Christopher Nolan has long been touted as a potential Bond director, but since that has yet to materialise, it sounds like he's just going to go ahead and make his own Bond family anyway, simply without the 007 brandings.

According to Variety, the film is "an action epic evolving from the world of international espionage."

Nolan himself has penned the script, and with the film shooting in seven countries it sounds like were going to be getting a global spy thriller. That fits with it being a big, action-packed event film too, given how big something like Mission: Impossible - Fallout was.

A previous rumour had pegged the film as being like North by Northwest meets Inception, and the new report doesn't completely contradict that (and honestly, that film sounds amazing so let's hope it is accurate). Variety had previously cited a source who called it a "massive, innovative action blockbuster", which is about par for the course for Nolan, while Pattinson said the script was "unreal".

Nolan likes to keep a decent amount of secrecy around his movies, but everything so far is sounding very promising.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for over ten years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
