Comic Book vs Film: How Avengers: Infinity War Is Already Different
11. There's No Mistress Death
In The Comics:
In the events running up to Infinity Gauntlet, Thanos is actually revived by Death as a means to restore balance in the universe when she realises that there are more people being born than dying. He then convinces her he needs to seek out the Infinity Stones to complete that mission and also becomes infatuated with her, to the point that wiping out half of existence is basically a love token to her.
Sadly for him, she's not impressed and brutally rebuffs his attempts at romance, prompting him to try and make her jealous by creating Terraxia, his "ideal companion" in an attempt to prove he doesn't need her. She's unmoved, which infuriates Thanos and he's even more upset when she eventually decides to side with the heroes to take him down.
In The Film:
Despite the fact that he mentioned "courting Death" in his earliest appearances in the MCU, Thanos' motivations are completely different and Mistress Death will not appear. It's not that surprising either, because Marvel would no more put a personification of Death (Hela is different as Norse mythology allows more creative flexibility) than they would the Devil.
