Comic Book vs Film: How Avengers: Infinity War Is Already Different

8. The Black Order

In The Comics:

In the original Infinity Saga, Thanos mounts his conquest of the universe mostly alone (aside from Mephisto's influence, his Weird Science girlfriend and his attempts to ally with Death). Since he's already got the power of a God, it's a little redundant for him to need anyone else to do his bidding.

One snap of his fingers and it's done.

Even in collecting the Infinity Stones he operates on his own and is perfectly capable of tricking or overcoming the Stones' protectors to get his hands on all of the Stones.

In The Film:

As well as cutting out some key characters from the comic arc, Infinity War is introducing The Black Order as key players who go after the Infiinity Stones on behalf of Thanos (you know, despite the fact that he said he'd "do it himself" at the end of Age Of Ultron).

In this film - as in the 2012 Infinity arc that introduced them in the comics - The Black Order are Thanos' underlings (here, they're actually said to be his children) who invade Earth on his behalf.

It's a smart decision - not least because they're great characters in Infinity, but also because it makes Thanos a more accessible villain than he was in Infinity Gauntlet.
