Crimson Peak: 15 Reasons To Be Excited

1. The House Is A Living, Breathing Entity

Practicality provides a level of authenticy that simply cannot be recreated by computer effects; no matter how advanced they may be. Whilst much of Del Toro's undead horrors are augmented with CGI software, they are performed by actors initially. He is a devotee of the honest, old-fashion approach to filmmaking, and proves this no more than with the construction of the film's primary set; Allerdale Hall. Just like his characters - perhaps more so - the central mansion in the film is a living, breathing entity. It shifts emotionally; altering and manipulating. Rather than just employing rolls of green screen and having his actors guess-work in front, he and the production teams designed a fully motioning environment, and it is a startling beauty to behold. Built inside Pinewood, those who were lucky enough to get on-set have stated how stunned they were at the sheer size, detail and physicality of Allerdale. Hiddleston himself has gone on the record claiming "the house is giving a better performance than I am", and as for Del Toro, well he couldn't be happier with the residence. After all he is a man who has a house that actually bleeds. We simply cannot wait to see the manor, its occupants and everything in between. Are you looking forward to Crimson Peak?
