DC Appoint New Heads Of FIlm After Batman v Superman Disappointment
And thankfully, it's not Zack Snyder.

A lot of people said a lot of wrong things about Batman v Superman. In the end it was neither the best nor the worst comic book movie of all time, and it wasn't a complete disaster for everyone involved. Obviously hyperbole will out, and people took to the bloodied streets of the Internet to decry it as woeful or fly its flag, but any extreme reaction wasn't well placed.
That doesn't mean Warner Bros weren't disappointed. The film needed to make a billion dollars, whether they would admit it or not, and more importantly, it needed to get fans (and critics to a lesser extent, because they do have a say on how much a film makes) excited for the rest of the DCExtended Universe. Aside from Ben Affleck's Batman and a vague hint at Wonder Woman's appeal, it didn't do that half as well as it should.
Now, perhaps in an attempt to change direction - and hot on the trail of bumping Ben Affleck up to Executive Producer on Justice League: Part One - the studio has appointed Geoff Johns and Jon Berg co-heads of DCFilms. They will have full oversight over the upcoming slate, in the same way KevinFeige oversees the MCU, and Warners will be hoping for similar success.
There's very much a sense that the studio are seeking to change their approach generally, with a more compartmentalised approach to their franchises. Their big brands will now each have a head, which is a smart move - particularly as it gives DCthe special focus is needs.
The duo's first jobs will be the help produce Justice League, where they will join a familiar face in Affleck. Berg worked with him on Argo and Live By Night and Johns is writing the stand-alone Batman movie with him, and it sounds very much like Affleck is being considered the third creative lead, with the door open for him to take up more responsibilities down the line.
Hopefully, that will be a good thing for the future of the DCUniverse.
The company also unveiled a new logo to herald in the new era of creative control, which will be seen on all DCEntertainment products.
