DC Cinematic Universe: 10 Things You Need To Know

7. The Flash Is A Little Confusing

Speaking of The CW and Arrow, it seems a little odd that DC have decided to go ahead and announce the making of a Flash film not a week after The Flash TV show premiered on The CW. It was pretty great, too, harnessing the loony, bombastic comic book energy of the source material and introducing such aspects as time travel, alternate universes and a giant genius gorilla to its story of the fastest man alive. Except the film won't be a big screen adaptation of the show, from the sounds of things - where Grant Gustin has done a bang up job of bringing Barry Allen to life on TV, the movie has already cast Ezra Miller in the title role. There's been some chatter that perhaps the film will play into the alternative universes thing, or else the whole "legacy character" history The Flash has. Barry Allen was the second Flash, a mantle that was passed onto nephew Wally West when he carked it. That sounds a little complex for tying the two universes together, however, so there's a good chance the film is just gonna disregard the show entirely. Weird move, perhaps, but casting We Need To Talk About Kevin's Miller as The Flash is definitely something to pay close attention to.
