DC Extended Universe: 5 Best & 5 Worst Characters Introduced In 2016
2. Slipknot (Suicide Squad)

Ahead of the film's release, was anyone really expecting Slipknot to survive?
Despite being all over the posters with the rest of the characters, Slipknot was barely in any footage, as though no one in marketing was concerned about the obviousness of his fate. In the actual film, Slipknot doesn't even get an introduction during Amanda Waller's rundown of her recruits, the character dragged - quite literally - into everything like an afterthought, only to punch a woman in the mouth and get killed off mere minutes later.
Now, Slipknot didn't need to survive the film; after all, his sole existence is to prove that no one is safe, and that's fine. However, considering that no one else dies by Waller's bombs anyway, his death essentially rings hollow, raising stakes that never truly get paid off, like killing a major player off the same way later on.
As a result, the film could've at least tried to make his death come as an actual shock by placing the character in the narrative and with the team off the bat, baiting the audience into thinking that the marketing was wrong and that he actually could have relevance only to surprise everyone by killing him. As it stands, no one was excited to see him show up and no one was sad to see him go, creating a wash of a character whose "important" role didn't end up feeling all that important.
