Doctor Strange 3: 10 Characters Who Could Be The Main Villain

6. Chton

Doctor Strange Mephisto
Marvel Comics

Eons ago, the world was ruled by The Elder Gods. But as their power waned, each of the Elders knew it was only a matter of time before they faded to nothing. To escape his fate, one Elder called Chton fled to a dimension he created called The Flickering Realm.

Before he ventured to this reality, Chton inscribed all his knowledge of the mystic arts into a book called The Darkhold. He left these enchanted pages on Earth, giving him a permanent link to the world. Witches and warlocks from across the globe have sought The Darkhold, since it harbours the most powerful magic. Little do they know that using its dark powers tethers Chton to the wielder, allowing him to use them as a conduit to wreak havoc on Earth.

Because The Darkhold plays a key role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, many suspected Chton would appear in some way. Although his demonic servants showed up, the God of Chaos has yet to make his presence known.

Due to the film's climax showing our titular hero being corrupted by The Darkhold, it wouldn't be too hard to incorporate Chton into the follow-up.
