Doctor Who: 10 Actors That Should Guest Star In Series 9
4. James Callis
Another British actor who's mostly well known for roles in America would be James Callis, aka Gaius Baltar from Battlestar Galactica. He's frequently suggested as a potential future Doctor but a guest role would work just as well. As fans have already seen with Capaldi, it isn't necessarily a bar to being the Time Lord in the future. He's also a more likely option than others on this list, as he's not always been a series regular. He's had recent guest roles in the likes of Arrow and the Musketeers. So why not Doctor Who? Like Sackhoff, he'd be comfortable working with the regular remits of Who, the various futuristic sets and psuedo-science jargon. He'd also have experience of fandom so he'd be able to take all the scrutiny that Who gets in his stride. The most compelling reason for his inclusion, however, is his versatility. Just compare his role as Baltar with his role in the ultimately short lived Flashforward, for example, or with his appearance in The Musketeers. They are very different characters and he uses very different vocal and physical techniques for each, still managing to bring them all to life. This ability to embody many characters means that he could easily play one that's a match for the Doctor. In fact, given the often wacky things that Who can get away wth, there could even be a role that allows him to showcase the full extent of his range. And that would make for a wonderfully bonkers episode.
