4. It's Surprisingly Emotionally Engaging

Given the fundamental ridiculousness of this movie's world, trying to make audiences emotionally connect with the characters and their predicament could've so easily backfired.

Yet because the character work is generally pretty solid throughout and the movie dares to take them seriously enough to not be mere cartoon characters, it's surprisingly easy to buy into the stakes of Edgin's adventure.

All in all, Honour Among Thieves is centered around Edgin's attempts to be a better father and finally reconcile the death of his wife, leading to an unexpectedly affecting third-act payoff which additionally helps bolster Edgin's bond with his fellow party members.

Nobody's going to be sobbing when it's all over, but given how this movie could've so easily been completely emotionally inert, it's a pleasant surprise to see it hitting its marks quite effectively.
