2. Doctor Strange
Who would ever have imagined that Marvel's turn towards the supernatural realms - deemed for a long time their most dangerous step forward - would prove to be such an astounding success?
Not only is Scott Derrickson's mind-bending effects epic a spectacle the likes of which has never been seen in the MCU (or in any film) so far, but it's also the perfect launching point for the character. The story might be condensed and a little pacy, but it serves as the right platform to introduce the heir apparent to Robert Downey Jr's crown as the king of the MCU.
The visuals and action sequences are incredible, Benedict Cumberbatch is perfectly cast as Strange and the film - crucially - opens up a whole new world of opportunities for future movies. It's not entirely flawless (Dormammu is wasted, and so is Rachel McAdams), but for such a left-field project to land so well is insane.
