Noah Baumbach is another of Sandler's more prestige filmmakers, and one of the best at utilising the actor's skills. In The Meyerowitz Stories (New & Selected), he sits in the middle of an ensemble family drama he often runs away with.

Alongside Ben Stiller, Elizabeth Marvel and Dustin Hoffman, Sandler stars as a musically gifted man with hefty baggage unable to juggle his familial relationships, using his underestimated sensitivity to great dramatic effect as he confronts his father, his troubled siblings, and his past.

Watching Adam Sandler's previous work, it's fair to say he always had this kind of sad, human performance in him, but this is better than anyone could have expected. Baumbach's film hits a homerun, and Sandler, it turns out, is one hell of an actor.
