Every Best Picture Oscar Winner Ranked Worst To Best
61. Chariots Of Fire (1981)
Immortalised by Vangelis's inspirational score, Chariots of Fire is another of the Academy's more obvious winners, in that its uplifting tale of two runners overcoming prejudice before the 1924 Olympics is both simple but moving enough to win voters over.
It's not exactly dire, though, especially where its aforementioned score and svelte production is concerned. Sure, it's predictable, manipulative drama, but its story has enough tricks up its sleeve to help it avoid feeling too forced. And, seriously, that score cannot be praised enough.
