Every Highest Grossing Film Since 2000 Ranked

4. Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Avatar Money
Lucasfilm/EW

Year: 2017

Rest Of The Top Ten:

Beauty and the Beast, The Fate of the Furious, Despicable Me 3, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Wolf Warrior 2, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Thor: Ragnarok and Wonder Woman.

The Last Jedi was unsurprisingly the highest-grossing film of the year, but a lot of people hated it. TLJ has faced major backlash and, in fairness, this is understandable.

It's a strange, occasionally messy film and represents a seriously radical vision for the franchise which many Star Wars fans haven't taken kindly to. A re-watch after some time has passed is reccomended, since it gets better the second time and it's one of the most interesting blockbusters in a long time.

Aside from its plot holes, TLJ is a thrilling, visually stunning and intensely emotional experience which defies every cliche and occasionally becomes a bit of a masterpiece. It's the most suspenseful Star Wars movie and it's got the franchise's best ever performance from Adam Driver which allows it to add up to the best Star Wars film since Empire Strikes Back.
