The Dark Knight was the fourth billion-dollar movie and is now one of the most beloved films ever, which has unfortunately led to the film being entirely trivialized and over-exposed. As a result, sadly people will often forget the great film beneath the hype.
As sick as we all are of hearing about The Dark Knight, it's one hell of a movie. It's cluttered and Christian Bale is dreary as Batman, but for the most part TDK is the perfect fusion of action and art. The action sequences and film-making on display are masterful, yet it's also a rich and emotional experience with some shockingly powerful moments. In the end, it's not really a superhero film and is actually a complex, resonant crime drama that just happens to be about a guy in a cape.
It's not only the best Batman film, but it's possibly the best-acted superhero film of all time - especially from the late Heath Ledger as the Joker.
