Every James Bond Finale Ranked
13. Tomorrow Never Dies - Carver's Stealth Ship
1997's Tomorrow Never Dies has a fairly typical Bond climax in many ways - Bond and the main Bond Girl, Wai Lin (Michelle Yeoh), fights lots of bad guys in the villain's lair. We've seen this before and a couple of other Bond finales have been at sea, so it's not the most original ending.
Regardless, it's still absolutely awesome.
The film's climax uses Bond tropes to provide an incredibly satisfying and exciting finale that is beautifully choreographed and benefits from the refreshingly modern, high-tech feel and the dynamite double-act of Bond and Wai Lin.
At the same time though, it is dragged down a bit by the presence of the film's dreadful villain, Elliot Carver (Jonathan Pryce), and also by the fact that he's got the dumbest evil plan in Bond history. He wants to start a war between Britain and China. Why? To get broadcasting rights in China for the next 100 years.
It's still hard to see how that actually got approved by the film's producers. Still, other than that, it's an incredibly fun ending and exactly the kind of OTT climax you'd expect from a 90s action film.
