Donald Pleasance's performance may be what most people picture when they think of Blofeld but Kojak actor, Telly Savalas, gave the best performance as SPECTRE's head honcho.

Now, his evil scheme is pretty stupid. (Having his brainwashed hotties sterilise the globe's food supply with biological weapons sounds like it was cooked up by Dr. Evil.) Silly scheme aside, this Blofeld feels like a flesh-and-blood character rather than a caricature. Unlike Pleasance, Savalas has plenty of screen time to depict the character's unwavering egotism and uncompromising ruthlessness.

Even though Blofeld has always been mental match for 007, Savalas' incarnation is the only one who feels physically threatening, which we see in their final bout.

The fact that he delivered the greatest blow to Bond by murdering his wife moments after their marriage is another reason this Blofeld excels above all others.
