Every James Bond Movie Ranked Worst To Best

21. Spectre (2015)

Spectre Daniel Craig
MGM

The weakest of the Daniel Craig years, Spectre is by no means a bad film, featuring a series of beautiful shots from director Sam Mendes and typically death-defying stunt work that breaks the laws of physics but maintains the film's gritty allure.

The problem, then, entirely comes down to plot, which tracks an outnumbered Bond as he takes on the mysterious Spectre organisation (last seen, officially, in 1971's Diamonds Are Forever) and comes face-to-face with its enigmatic leader, Blofeld, who also turns out to be...Bond's foster brother?

Spectre is what happens when a franchise runs for so long that it feels the need to inundate audiences with unwanted and totally unearned fan service, and the film's melodramatic plot twists ruin an otherwise promising clash with Bond's past.

Ultimately, Spectre is a waste of narrative potential that soars with Craig's searing performance and looks phenomenal, but really could have done with far fewer bolts from the blue.
