Every Liam Neeson Action Movie Ranked Worst To Best
6. A Walk Among The Tombstones (2014)
Like Cold Pursuit, A Walk Among the Tombstones is a unique offering from Neeson, because whilst it finds him on typically fine form as an imposing action man, it's also a deeply methodical crime drama that requires the actor to dig a little bit deeper than he's been used to in other thrillers.
The tale of a retired, haunted detective thrown onto the trail of a pair of murderers lurking in the streets of New York, the sombre noir is distressing and intimate, making perfect use of Neeson as a recovering alcoholic unable to make sense of a senselessly cruel world.
Admittedly, its dark assessments of violence and human evil are heavy-handed -- sometimes, where the murders are concerned, to the point of distracting -- but as the character study of a cynical man trapped in a cynical world, there are few Neeson action flicks that use his underrated sensitivity and hardness better.
