Every M. Night Shyamalan Movie Ranked Worst To Best

5. Split (2016)

Split James McAvoy
Universal Pictures

Split was the big comeback movie of Shyamalan's career, kickstarting a creative high he's still (mostly) enjoying to this day.

Following James McAvoy as a man with multiple personality disorder who kidnaps three young women (Anya Taylor-Joy amongst them), the bracing thriller is energetic and chaotic in the best way, allowing McAvoy to cut frighteningly loose as a man fallen victim to his own mind.

Yes, the Shyamalan flaws are still there -- silly dialogue and jolty narrative curveballs -- but Split is still the most purely entertaining movie of his career, and one he clearly had a blast putting together.
