Before Brie Larson and Captain Marvel made history as the first female led movie of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Evangeline Lilly and the Wasp shared the title of 2018’s Ant-Man sequel. Hope van Dyne’s involvement was purely as a sidekick in the original Ant-Man, but she evolved into her superhero persona in Ant-Man and the Wasp.

This was teased at the end of the 2015 movie, and the Wasp was gloriously introduced into the franchise as she kicked the ass of, not only Sonny Burch, but his entire entourage.

Whereas Scott Lang needed a LOT of practice in both hand to hand combat and using Hank Pym’s suit, Hope already had everything locked down. Not only was she a master of the fighting style, she did it all while flying around with the wings her dad refused to give to Scott.

This scene, highlighted by her running along the blade of a knife in mid air and knocking one of Sonny’s henchmen out with an enlarged salt shaker, was the best part of the entire movie.
