Though a noticeable improvement upon the previous Fantastic Beasts film, The Secrets Of Dumbledore still failed to persuade that this franchise really needed to exist at all - let alone slog out for another two movies (which have since been basically scrapped).

Mads Mikkelsen gamely subs in for Johnny Depp as Grindelwald, but for many the distracting nature of the recast was simply too much, to say nothing of the bloated 142-minute runtime, and deeply silly central election plot that dares to take itself bizarrely seriously.

And above all else, three movies into the franchise there's still a patent lack of actual Fantastic Beasts, which makes no damn sense at all.
