Every MCU Movie - Ranked From Worst To Best
10. Iron Man
It's a simple statement: without Iron Man, there wouldn't be an MCU. It was a hell of a gamble - which required Jon Favreau to vouch bravely for his lead actor - and while Tony Stark's hero origin isn't as profoundly emotional as Batman, Superman or Spider-man's, it was a compelling enough story to package the exceptional RDJ in.
Strengths
It's all about Robert Downey Jr: he's perfectly cast as Stark, not only because of their similar personal arcs, but because he sells the swagger and the arrogance in such a charismatic way that you suspect there's no lengths he could go to to make him at all unlikeable.
Though he's a little conventional, Jeff Bridges is also great as Obediah Stane, Plus the promise of a sprawling, spider-leg maze of the Ten Rings was a smart move (even if it wasn't fully delivered upon later).
Weaknesses
The story isn't exactly revelatory: perhaps because there's a signficant need for exposition, there's a distinct lack of spectacle. But then that might have just got in the way of Downey Jr's performance.
