Every Peter Jackson Film Ranked Worst To Best
6. King Kong (2005)
The most underappreciated film of Peter Jackson's career, the director's attempt at remaking the 1933 classic King Kong is a startling achievement in big budget filmmaking. Starring a great ensemble rounded out by Jack Black, Naomi Watts, Adrien Brody, Kyle Chandler, Jamie Bell and the big ape himself, Andy Serkis, the film seems split into three distinct storylines, and each of them work wonders to create an epic fantasy drama.
The effects here are staggering, with Kong being brought vividly to life by Serkis and offering up some seriously amazing action sequences. There's also a great grasp for scares running through the film, allowing King Kong to be at once a striking adventure film and a deeply unsettling survival horror.
No, it's not entirely perfect - Jack Black and Adrien Brody are a bit out of place - but between the epic scope, spotless imagery and great narrative structure, Peter Jackson's King Kong is a truly brilliant film that everyone should really re-visit.
