Every Philip Seymour Hoffman Movie Ranked Worst To Best

23. Art Howe - Moneyball (2011)

Phillip Seymour Hoffman Doubt
Columbia Pictures

After their Oscar-winning team-up with Capote six years earlier, director Bennett Miller and Philip Seymour Hoffman reunited for Moneyball, an Aaron Sorkin-penned drama in which a baseball manager (Brad Pitt) attempts to craft the best team around by using a mathematical algorithm.

Moneyball is a small real-life drama which is saved from its tonal inconsistencies by a phenomenal cast, including Pitt, Hoffman, Jonah Hill and Robin Wright.

Hoffman plays baseball manager Art Howe, offering audiences another pitch-perfect supporting turn as a complex man desperately opposed to Pitt's unconventional managerial techniques, and is perfectly suited to the film's tense narrative.
