Every Pixar Movie Ranked Worst To Best

4. Toy Story (1995)

Pixar

Toy Story set the tone for what Pixar could achieve. Every film made since its release has been compared to the studio's original vision, and damn near every animation since its release owes it a debt of gratitude for what it achieved on a technical level.

Outside of the game-changing graphics, Toy Story also features every trope you picture when considering a Pixar classic, from the whip-smart dialogue (often hiding one or two easy to miss adult jokes), brilliant character design, spotless voice work, and effortless humour and heart.

Now it's not perfect; it is, after all, twenty-six years old, and though the effects still hold up a treat, they're not as pristine as some of the studio's more recent projects. Also, growing up with the film means learning that Woody isn't that likeable a character this time around.

But all of these minor scruples pale in comparison to Toy Story's timeless humour and industry influence. The themes of abandonment and childhood have never rang more true than they do here, and all told, Toy Story is an animation classic that cannot easily be topped.
