Every Pokemon Movie Ranked Worst To Best

20. Diancie And The Cocoon Of Destruction

Breaking from the typical norm of featuring a particularly masculine Pokemon as a film centrepiece - only a handful, including Latias from Pokemon Heroes, have been as explicitly gendered before - The Cocoon of Destruction just doesn't particularly do enough to differentiate beyond that tonal idea to justify itself, pushing the franchise into further limpness with its relatively soggy existence.

The first film of the XY era finds Ash, Serena, Clemont and Bonnie tasked with accompanying Diancie on a journey to find the Legendary Pokemon Xerneas in order to save the former's underground kingdom from falling into a form of stagnation. If there's anything going for it, it's the locale, based heavily on Ottawa in Canada.

Something of a culture vulture, Mr Steel can historically be found in three places; the local cinema, the local stadium or the local chip shop. He is an avowed fan of franchise films, amateur cricket and power-chords.
